Sublimation mugs for full-colour, photographic branding

Photographic, wraparound artwork fused permanently into ceramic and stoneware.

Sublimation mugs are custom ceramic and stoneware coffee mugs decorated with a dye process that fuses full-colour, photographic artwork permanently into the mug surface for vibrant, wraparound promotional branding. Businesses choose sublimation when their design needs multiple colours, photographs, gradients or edge-to-edge coverage that standard spot-colour printing cannot achieve, and because it is a dye process, full colour costs no more than a single colour. The range runs from the cost-effective Madrid 330ml stoneware mug and its two-tone version, through the Aztec 350ml double-wall ceramic cup, to fine bone china and the thermochromic Chameleon, where the design appears when hot liquid is added. Most are presented in a natural gift box, handwashing is recommended, and you can preview your logo in our free Preview Studio, with delivery Australia-wide.

How full-colour sublimation works

1

Print the transfer

Your full-colour artwork, a photo, a gradient or a multi-colour logo, is printed onto a sublimation transfer using special dye inks.

2

Heat & pressure

The transfer is wrapped onto the prepared mug and pressed at high heat, which turns the solid dye into a gas.

3

Permanent bond

The gas bonds into the mug surface at a molecular level, so the image becomes part of the mug, smooth to touch and built to last.

Which mug takes sublimation best

Everyday stoneware

Choose a stoneware mug like the Madrid, Black Hawk or Roma for cost-effective bulk runs and fundraising, because it gives a classic shape and a full-colour wrap at the sharpest price.

Premium bone china

Choose a fine bone china mug like the Chroma or Vogue for elegant corporate gifting, because the lightweight, refined body lifts the gift while still taking full-colour artwork.

Something distinctive

Choose the Aztec double-wall, the Madrid two-tone or the thermochromic Chameleon when you want a talking point, because each adds a feature that lifts the mug above a standard print.

Sublimation mug questions, answered

What is the difference between sublimation and regular mug printing
Sublimation fuses full-colour dye into the mug surface at a molecular level for permanent, photographic results, while standard pad printing applies ink on top in one or two spot colours. Sublimation allows wraparound coverage with gradients and complex imagery, and the image will not scratch, peel or fade. Pad printing is more cost-effective for simple single-colour logos.
Which mugs can be sublimation printed
Our sublimation range covers stoneware mugs (Madrid, Black Hawk, Roma), double-wall ceramic (Aztec), fine bone china (Chroma, Vogue) and the two-tone and thermochromic Chameleon options. Each is manufactured with a surface prepared for spot or full-colour wraparound sublimation.
How does the thermochromic Chameleon mug work
The Chameleon has a special heat-reactive coating, so the design appears when hot liquid is added and fades again as the mug cools. The black coating can be overprinted with full-colour sublimation for a reveal effect that makes it a memorable promo and launch gift.
Can sublimation mugs feature photographs
Yes. Sublimation excels at photographic imagery, reproducing landscapes, portraits, mascots and detailed crests with smooth gradients and accurate colour. That is why it is the preferred method for tourism souvenirs, event merchandise and school or club fundraising.
What artwork format do you need
Supply high-resolution files as JPEG, Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop, and provide Pantone codes for accurate colour matching. High resolution is important because sublimation reproduces fine detail, so low-resolution files can look pixelated. Our design team reviews artwork before production.
Are sublimation mugs dishwasher safe
This varies by product. Several stoneware, double-wall ceramic, fine bone china and thermochromic mugs are recommended for handwashing to preserve the decoration, and most are presented in a natural gift box. We confirm the care guidance for your chosen mug with your quote.
What is the minimum order and lead time
Sublimation runs work best from around $500 for value, and we'll confirm what suits your order in the quote. Standard production is approximately 10 working days from artwork approval, subject to stock, with freight additional depending on your location. Because no separate screens are needed per colour, sublimation can be quick even for detailed designs.
Do the mugs come gift boxed
Most sublimation mugs include individual natural gift box packaging as standard, including the Madrid, two-tone, bone china and stoneware styles. That makes them ready for corporate gifting, client appreciation and fundraising without extra wrapping.
